Implementation of gender equality in international class program (ICP) at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar / Puspa Indah Putri Widodo
Abstrak
The current study investigates how the concept of gender equality has been implemented in the International Class Program at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar. The study used a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis using observation interviews and recording documentation as research instruments. The research participants are one ICP Coordinator one female English teacher one male English teacher. six female ICP students and six male ICP students from the first to third grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar and using Saldana Miles and Hubberman rsquo s model of data analysis. The results obtained by the researchers were that the ICP classes at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar had implemented the concept of gender equality not only by teachers but fellow students had also implemented it. This study contributes to improving the gender equality in English materials for high school level and increasing the teachers and students rsquo gender equality awareness in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar. Apart from that the researcher hopes that this study is able to help educators students and the government be aware of the importance of the concept of gender equality which must be applied in the education sector to create civilized and well-educated human resources.
