Fiacs on teacher-talk in efl student-centered learning activities at SMK Negeri 1 Rejotangan / Reza Irianto Wibowo
Abstrak
Teacher Talk plays a crucial role in classroom interaction because it can increase students motivation grasp a subject and encourage them to participate more actively in the learning process. FIACS is one of the techniques to observe classroom interaction. This qualitative descriptive study was aimed to explore the Teacher Talk type of FIACS that occurred in EFL classrooms and its impact on students rsquo performance. The data were collected through observations and interviews in one vocational high school in Tulungagung East Java Indonesia. The study found that all Teacher Talk categories occurred during the meetings and the most category used was asking questions. Besides Teacher Talk could improve students rsquo motivation understanding comprehension participation attitude and responsibility during learning. Thus it is recommended that teachers should consider using Teacher Talk to make the class more active and increase students rsquo interests in learning English.
