The eighth grader’s perception of group discussion strategy to improve reading comprehension in Qur’an Ar-roudloh Junior High School / Risky Ramadani
Abstrak
This paper describes the perception of impact and motivation of eighth graders after they learnt using group discussion strategy. The application of group discussion strategy in English reading classroom as an alternative method that can enhance students rsquo motivation and reading comprehension of short message text and become one of the effective and strategic method for teachers to apply in English reading classroom. The methodology or approach used in this paper was survey research design. While the data collection was carried out by using a questionnaire and interview guide. The research was conducted to one of the eighth-grade classes in Qur rsquo an ArRoudloh Junior High School that K13 curriculum is implemented. The study rsquo s findings indicate that the eighth graders were fond of group study and they learnt faster when they were taught using group discussion strategy. In conclusion group discussion strategy has a good impact in increasing students rsquo motivation in reading and improving students rsquo reading comprehension.
