Integration of local wisdom in the development of PBL-Based science teaching materials to improve environmental literacy of junior high school students / Zetira Yunita Santi
Abstrak
This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of PBL-based science teaching materials integrated with local wisdom in an effort to improve students environmental literacy skills. This study involved 45 students with details of 25 male students and 20 female students at MTsN 2 Malang City. Using the one-group pretest post-test method by adopting the Middle School Environmental Literacy Survey (MSELS) standard instrument. Several aspects of environmental literacy that have been developed on the test instrument include knowledge environmentally conscious attitudes cognitive skills and environmentally responsible behavior. The data analysis technique was carried out descriptively to describe the results of the pretest and posttest of environmental literacy and the use of t-test and Wilcoxon test to determine differences in students environmental literacy skills. Furthermore the N-Gain test was conducted to determine the magnitude of the increase in students environmental literacy. The results of data analysis state that there is a significant difference in the environmental literacy of students before and after learning with PBL-based science teaching materials integrated with local wisdom. Strengthened by the results of N-Gain in the range of 0.3-0.7 on each indicator of environmental literacy which means that this teaching material is quite effective for improving students environmental literacy.
