The relationship between reading comprehension skills and creative writing skills in grade IV elementary school students / Yasmin Tiara Sari
Abstrak
Language skills are a comprehensive skill. Some are receptive and productive. Where reading and listening skills are receptive and writing and speaking skills are productive. Language variety is variation in the use of diverse languages. This variety is divided into two namely written language and spoken language. The written language variety consists of two language skills namely reading and writing. This study aims to determine reading comprehension skills creative writing skills and the relationship between reading comprehension skills and creative writing skills. This is viewed from reading literacy writing literacy decoding process and encoding process. In this study quantitative methods were used and descriptive statistics and correlation inferential statistics were analyzed. The results showed that the reading comprehension skills variable obtained an average value (mean) of 70.15 a median of 75 and a mode of 95 and a standard deviation (std. deviation) of 23.37. On the indicator of the question that obtained the highest percentage result was the indicator Detecting the answers listed in the reading text with a percentage of 74.7%. While the indicator that has the lowest value is the indicator Detecting the main idea/idea in the paragraph with a percentage of 67.4. Based on the average value (mean) of 70.15 it shows that students reading comprehension skills are in the high category. In the creative writing skills variable the average value (mean) is 58.33 the median is 56 and the mode is 84 and the standard deviation (std. deviation) is 17.64. In the question indicator that obtained the highest percentage result was the indicator Students are able to retell according to the storyline with a percentage of 72.7%. While the indicator that has the lowest value is the writing style indicator The beginning of the paragraph should be slightly indented to the right with a percentage of 37.1%. Based on the average value (mean) of 58.33 it shows that students creative writing skills are in the high category. The research results from hypothesis testing using Pearson Product Moment correlation show a correlation coefficient value of 0.696 with a sig. (2-tailed) value of
