The influence of nomophobia and phubbing on academic procrastination of office administration education students / Aviva Nur Izza
Abstrak
Procrastination in completing academic assignments or academic procrastination is one of the causes of many final semester students not being able to complete their studies on time. The urgency of this research is to understand how nomophobia and phubbing behavior affect academic procrastination in undergraduate students of Office Administration Education State University of Malang. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method of 89 students in the class of 2021 who were selected through proportional random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire assisted by google form and analyzed by multiple linear regression using SPSS 25.0. The results showed that nomophobia and phubbing had a positive and significant effect on academic procrastination. Students who show characteristics such as fear of failure perfectionism impulsiveness passivity and tend to seek momentary pleasure are more at risk of academic procrastination. Academic procrastination has a negative impact on student learning achievement increases stress and anxiety levels and can cause delays in graduation and even study failure if not resolved immediately. These findings confirm the importance of time management controlling smartphone use and increasing academic motivation to reduce academic procrastination behavior among students.
