Automation of quail farm waste management into biogas based on iot and interactive hmi / SAIFUL KUROB
Abstrak
Quail farming is a promising sector due to its efficiency in producing eggs and meat with relatively low production costs. However the management of quail manure remains a challenge as its high nitrogen content can cause environmental pollution if not handled properly. One sustainable solution is to process the waste into biogas through an anaerobic process which not only reduces pollution but also generates renewable energy. This study aims to develop an automated system for processing quail waste into biogas using IoT-based technology including PLC ESP32 and an HMI interface. This system allows remote monitoring and control thereby improving operational efficiency in waste management. Integration with Modbus communication enables more optimal device connectivity while real-time data acquisition helps optimize the biogas production process. The IoT system and interactive HMI for the automation of quail waste management into biogas have been successfully implemented. The MQ-4 and ultrasonic sensors are capable of monitoring methane levels and liquid height in real time with data transmitted to Firebase and displayed through a mobile application built with Flutter. Low delay (0.5 seconds) and responsive data transmission. The HMI functioned effectively as the central control unit managing actuators such as pumps and valves according to the process stages with a fast command response time of 0.2 seconds. Testing results confirmed that all input-output components and installations operated optimally and although minor delays occurred due to the type of communication used they did not affect system performance during either cleaning or monitoring processes.
