Abstrak
Hypertension is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease and can be triggered by both modifiable and non modifiable factors. Bus drivers are a high risk group for elevated blood pressure because of age smoking habits alcohol and coffee consumption and poor quality sleep. This study aimed to evaluate the association of these factors with increased blood pressure among inter city bus drivers (AKDP) at Arjosari Terminal Malang City conducted in December 2024. A quantitative approach with a cross sectional design was employed involving 83 drivers selected through non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. Data were collected via self administered questionnaires and blood pressure measurements. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed the latter using the Chi square test. The results showed that only age was significantly associated with elevated blood pressure (p 0.002 OR 4.449 95% CI 1.756 ndash 11.271) whereas the other variables were not. Age emerged as the dominant risk factor for elevated blood pressure among bus drivers. Therefore periodic health screening programs and workload reductions are needed especially for older drivers. Preventive efforts should focus on education and the promotion of healthy lifestyles tailored to drivers rsquo working conditions.
