Abstrak
Obesity is a risk factor that can impact physical fitness particularly cardiorespiratory endurance (VO Max) which is crucial for transportation officers in carrying out their field duties. This study aimed to examine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and VO2Max among transportation service officers in Malang City. A correlational analytic method with a cross-sectional design was used involving 50 participants selected through total sampling. BMI data were collected from height and weight measurements while VO2Maxwas measured using the Rockport Walk Test. The Spearman correlation test revealed no statistically significant relationship between BMI and VO2Max (r 0.053 p 0.714). These findings suggest that VO2Max is not solely influenced by BMI but also by other factors such as physical activity diet genetics and work environment. Therefore further assessments of body composition including body fat percentage are recommended to provide a more accurate picture of nutritional status and physical fitness. This study provides a foundation for the development of targeted health interventions aimed at improving the physical fitness and work productivity of transportation officers.
