Abstrak
PT Energy Lautan Nusantara is a manufacturing plant engaged in the production of sardine cans. PT Energy Lautan Nusantara is still a new factory established since 2020. Material handling costs at PT Energy Lautan Nusantara can be said to be large because the moment of material movement reaches 1287.886 meters. This is because the process of making cans that are different for each type requires special behavior for each processing. The impact generated by this situation is that material movement becomes more complex which makes material handling costs high. The application of the ARC (activity relationship chart) method and the BLOCPLAN (Block Layout Overview with Computerized Planning Using Logic and Algorithms) algorithm in designing facility layouts can help to cut the distance of material movement so that material handling costs can be reduced. The ARC method is a method that is quite easy to do in making facility layouts based on the level of activity relationships expressed qualitatively with subjective considerations of each workstation. In its use ARC can be combined with the BLOCPLAN algorithm which can help see the formation of the most ideal and optimal facility layout and can consider the material handling costs that will be incurred. The results showed that the initial layout at PT Energy Lautan Nusantara in the period January - September 2024 had a total displacement moment during production of 124 199.57 meters. The monthly fuel costs that must be borne by PT Energy Lautan Nusantara currently reach Rp839 004. So that the total cost of material handling (OMH) that must be borne by PT Energy Lautan Nusantara is IDR 7 575 554. The application of the ARC method and the BLOCPLAN algorithm succeeded in reducing the moment of displacement forklft fuel costs and monthly OMH with the proposed iteration chosen namely iteration 9. The total moment of displacement in iteration 9 was 86 187.13 meters or decreased by 30.6% from the total moment of displacement of the initial facility layout. The monthly fuel cost of iteration 9 amounted to Rp589 421 or decreased by 29.7%. The monthly OMH of iteration 9 also decreased to Rp7 325 971 or by 3.3%.
