Abstrak
ABSTRACT The results of observations in the field of plastic waste management have not been fully utilized to produce products such as keychains that have a selling value. Keychains can be made with various machines one of which is a plastic molding injection machine. In addition to having a positive impact on the environment this machine also increases income for UMKM partners. The production of keychains for UMKM partners is quite high so that this machine can help to achieve the target better. Vertical plastic injection molding machines are one of the innovations in manufacturing technology that enable the production of plastic components with high efficiency compared to horizontal machines that take up a lot of space. The working process of this machine involves the melting of PET type thermoplastic material which is then injected into the mold (molding) to form a keychain product. The main advantage of this plastic injection machine design is its ability to produce products with complex shapes short production times and high material efficiency. This research uses inventor software to help and simplify the design process. This research focuses on the design and development of a vertical plastic molding injection machine with a capacity of 300 ml. Based on the calculations that have been made a barrel tube component with a height of 160 mm and a diameter of 54 mm was obtained the barrel volume was 300 ml and the density of PET plastic used was 414 grams. The force required to push the molten plastic from inside the barrel is 2.261 N if the pressure used is 8 bar. The power required by the band heater in a plastic injection machine is 645.84 watts. The design of plastic injection machines has gone through several processes starting from conceptualizing machine design analytical calculations and manufacturing processes. It can be concluded that this machine can increase productivity on keychains and can reduce plastic waste in the surrounding environment.
