Abstrak
This research is motivated by the limited studies on the influence of text-based learning models in developing elementary school students writing skills whereas this phenomenon has a significant impact on the achievement of basic literacy competencies in the Indonesian Language curriculum. The purpose of this study was to measure the influence of text-based learning models on the writing skills of fourth grade elementary school students in procedural texts. The method used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design with a sample of 56 students selected through purposive sampling techniques from two classes in one of the state elementary schools in Blitar City. Data were collected through essay test instruments (pretest and posttest) and observations of learning implementation then analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test with the help of SPSS 25 software. The results showed that there was a positive and significant influence of the application of text-based learning models on improving students procedural text writing skills. This finding is in line with the research objectives and strengthens Vygotsky s social constructivism theory as well as Piaget s cognitive development theory. The main conclusion of this study is that text-based learning models play an important role in improving students ability to compose procedural texts sequentially logically and in accordance with linguistic rules. The implications of this study include theoretical aspects such as enriching the literature on text-based approaches in writing learning as well as practical aspects in the form of recommendations for teachers and education practitioners to apply this model in Indonesian language learning to shape students writing skills from an early age. This study also opens up opportunities for further studies on the effectiveness of text-based models on other types of texts and at different levels of education.
