Development of Legendary Journey Media for Fraction Arithmetic Operations Material for Fifth Grade Elementary School Students / Maula Diana Santi

Abstrak
Mathematics is an important subject that must be studied from elementary school to college. However in its implementation mathematics learning in elementary schools still faces obstacles one of which is the low interest in learning and understanding of students arithmetic operations on fractions. Based on the results of observations and interviews at Sekarpuro State Elementary School fifth-grade students have difficulty understanding the concept of fractions feel bored during learning and are less enthusiastic when the learning process only uses textbooks and learning videos. This condition is exacerbated by the learning method which is still one-way without the support of varied and interactive media. In fact the character of fifth-grade students tends to like direct activities games and challenges. Teachers at the school also stated that they did not have special media for fractional arithmetic operations. Based on the results of the needs analysis game-based media are needed that can actively involve students in a fun learning atmosphere. This study aims to develop Legendary Journey learning media an educational board game to help students understand fractional arithmetic operations. The development uses the ADDIE model through five stages namely analysis design development implementation and evaluation. The media consists of a game board player pieces dice material cards challenge cards bonus cards and a guidebook. This game is designed so that students can learn while playing and solve fraction problems in groups. The validation results show that the Legendary Journey media obtained a score from media experts of 98.18% and from material experts of 97.77% both of which are in the very valid category. Practicality by teachers reached 96.29% and students 97.77% categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test showed an increase in student learning outcomes with an N-Gain value of 0.73 categorized as high. From these results it is concluded that the Legendary Journey learning media is suitable for use in learning fraction arithmetic operations in grade V of elementary school. This media has proven to be very valid very practical and effective in improving learning outcomes and creating an active fun learning atmosphere and in accordance with the characteristics of elementary school students
