The dynamics of resilience in taekwondo athletes who are victims of intra-familial sexual violence / Lintang Ayunda Kinasih Dewanti
Abstrak
Resilience is the ability to overcome and adapt to severe events and problems that occur in life to endure under pressure or even to face adversity or trauma experienced in one rsquo s life. This study aims to explore the dynamics of resilience in children who are victims of intra-familial sexual abuse and undergo therapy through Taekwondo martial arts training. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method involving two female participants aged 11 ndash 12 years who were victims of sexual abuse by their stepfathers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and triangulated with supporting informants namely the victims rsquo mothers Taekwondo coaches and clinical psychologists handling the cases. The results show that the dynamics of resilience that have been formed include optimism empathy self-efficacy and the ability to find solutions to problems.
