Abstrak
Water is a fundamental human need essential for consumption sanitation and hygiene. In rural areas wells serve as the primary water source for various daily needs including drinking bathing and washing. However the use of well water for drinking purposes carries a high risk of bacterial contamination especially when wells are located near livestock pens. Livestock pens situated close to water sources have the potential to contaminate the environment with Escherichia coli bacteria. When well water contaminated with E. coli is used for drinking it poses serious health risks to the community. This research is a quantitative study with an analytical observational design using a cross-sectional approach. A total of 33 well water samples were analyzed. Based on the bivariate analysis a statistically significant result was found (p 0.000 p lt 0.005) with a correlation coefficient of -0.938. These findings indicate a significant relationship between the distance of livestock pens and the presence of E. coli in well water in Krajan Hamlet Bercak Induk Village Cermee Subdistrict Bondowoso Regency.
