The Effectiveness of The Children Learning in Science (CLIS) Model Assisted By Environmental Media on The Learning Outcomes of Science Energy Change Materials / Yulia Eka Sasmita

Sasmita, Yulia Eka - Nama Orang;

Abstrak
Science learning in elementary schools is often considered difficult because it contains many abstract concepts including material about energy and its changes. At SDN Bunulrejo 1 Malang City observations showed low learner participation in conventional learning that only relied on pictures and videos. In contrast an approach that involves experimentation and direct interaction with the real environment can increase learners interest and understanding. Therefore the constructivism-based Children Learning In Science (CLIS) model is suitable for implementation as it encourages active learner involvement in the learning process through observation and exploration of the surrounding environment. This study used a quantitative method with a non-equivalent control group type pseudo-experimental design. The subjects of this study were fourth grade elementary school students with a total of 38 participants divided into control and experimental groups. Data were collected through validated multiplechoice tests and analyzed using normality homogeneity t-test and N-Gain test. The results of the analysis show that the application of the CLIS model with environmental media has a significant positive effect on student learning outcomes. In the experimental group the pre-test average value of 51.05 increased to 87.89 in the post-test. The t-test results show a significance value of 0.000 which means there is a significant difference before and after treatment. In addition the N-Gain value of the experimental group of 0.6342 is higher than the control group of 0.4491 which indicates that the CLIS model is able to improve concept understanding more effectively than the conventional method. The CLIS model effectively improves students science learning outcomes especially on energy change material. The instruments used in this study proved to be valid and reliable. In addition to improving cognitive scores CLIS also encourages active involvement and contextual understanding making it feasible to be applied as an innovative learning alternative. The implementation of this model requires clear instructions the establishment of member roles and time management in conducting simple experiments to create optimal and equitable learning.
