The effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intentions : the mediating role of self-efficacy and innovation capability / RIZQI WAHYU ELVIANNY
Abstrak
Entrepreneurship education is considered successful if it achieves the established learning objectives one of which is increasing students entrepreneurial intentions. This study examines the influence of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intentions considering self-efficacy and innovation capability as mediating variables. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The sample consisted of 341 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business at the State University of Malang who had taken entrepreneurship courses and were selected using purposive random sampling from the class of 2021 and 2022. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques through SmartPLS 4 software. The results of the analysis indicate that entrepreneurship education has a positive and significant effect on students entrepreneurial intentions. Additionally entrepreneurship education has a positive and significant effect on students self-efficacy and innovation capability. Self-efficacy and innovation capability each positively contribute to entrepreneurial intention and function as partial mediators in the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention. These findings confirm that psychological factors and innovative capabilities play an important role in forming entrepreneurial intentions. Theoretically this study contributes to the development of an entrepreneurial intention model and practically it provides implications for strengthening experience-based entrepreneurship curricula in higher education. The study s implications suggest that developing effective applicable entrepreneurship education curricula can significantly optimize students entrepreneurial intentions by strengthening self-efficacy and innovation capability.
