Exploration of dating violence experiences among women with a fatherless background / A\'yunina Azzahro Imansari
Abstrak
Dating violence (DV) is a complex phenomenon with far-reaching consequences particularly when experienced by women with a fatherless background. This study is significant in exploring women rsquo s experiences of dating violence within the context of fatherlessness through Carl Jung rsquo s perspective considering the crucial role of fathers in shaping a daughter rsquo s emotional maturity. The study aims to understand the participants rsquo fatherless condition their experiences of dating violence as well as the patterns and responses that emerge within such experiences. A qualitative method with a case study approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews. Research participants were women aged 18 ndash 25 who had experienced dating violence (physical verbal sexual or economic) and had a fatherless background. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. Findings indicate that fatherlessness creates emotional emptiness dependency validation-seeking defensiveness toward men and ambivalence in relationships. The absence of a father generates a negative psychological complex (father complex) stored within the personal unconscious influencing the way participants respond to dating violence. These findings are discussed using Carl Jung rsquo s analytic psychology particularly the concepts of personal unconscious father complex projection shadow animus causality and teleology which explain the interconnectedness between past experiences present responses and future expectations.
