Development of books for SLB(housekeeping skills guidebook for job readiness of mildly disabled students) / Miftahul Huda
Abstrak
This study aims to address the lack of appropriate learning media by developing a specialized guidebook for students with mild intellectual disabilities in the context of housekeeping instruction at special needs schools (SLB). The objectives of this research include the development of a specialized instructional guide tailored to the needs and characteristics of students with mild intellectual disabilities enhancing their understanding and application of housekeeping skills. Furthermore the study seeks to improve students work readiness by providing a more accessible and comprehensible learning resource that supports the development of skills necessary for employment in the housekeeping sector. The study offers practical benefits such as providing a user-friendly guidebook for students with mild intellectual disabilities in preparation for entering the workforce as well as supporting teachers by equipping them with effective resources to facilitate student learning. This research employed a research and development (R amp D) design utilizing the ADDIE model developed by Robert Maribe Branch. According to Branch (2009 2) the ADDIE model is widely applied in educational contexts to facilitate knowledge and skills acquisition during the learning process. The evaluation results of the illustrated guidebook by media experts indicated the following (1) evaluation by a special education expert yielded a score of 94.28% classified as highly feasible (2) evaluation by an educational technology expert yielded a score of 88% categorized as feasible and (3) evaluation by practitioners yielded a score of 95.71% also categorized as highly feasible. Overall the average feasibility rating was 90.18% indicating that the housekeeping guidebook is highly suitable as a learning medium. Although the guidebook was rated as highly feasible further development is needed to expand the content and scope of the materials. The effectiveness test results revealed an increase in student performance with a pretest average score of 48.81% (categorized as sufficient ) and a posttest average score of 87.07% (categorized as very good ) indicating that the guidebook has a significant positive impact. Future researchers are encouraged to expand the scope of the guidebook s content so it can be applied across all areas of housekeeping skills. Additionally increasing the number of participants in the trial phase is recommended to enhance the guidebook s overall effectiveness and applicability.
