Development of philosophical dispute strategy guide containing stoicism philosophy to reduce hostile aggression attitudes of junior high school students / Daniar Eka Putri

Abstrak
This research is motivated by the high level of hostile aggression behavior in junior high school students which has a negative impact on social relations at school. Hostile aggression is an attitude that reflects dislike and negative judgment towards others as a representation of the thought process. This needs intervention in overcoming it by changing irrational beliefs through Rational Emotive Behavior (REB) counseling with philosophical dispute strategies loaded with the philosophy of stoicism. This research aims to develop a philosophical dispute strategy guide with the philosophy of stoicism to reduce hostile aggression among junior high school students. This study uses research and development methods with reference to the Borg amp Gall model to produce a counseling guidebook that contains the stages of individual counseling for REB with the content of stoicism values namely wisdom justice courage and self-control. This guide was validated by two subject matter experts and two media experts and tested for its applicability in the implementation of counseling to students with high levels of hostility. The application test of this research uses an experimental method with a design One group pre-test and post test. The subjects of the study were 5 (five) students with a high level of hostile aggression. The measurement instrument uses a scale of hostile aggression from aggression questionnaire adapted from Buss amp Perry (1992). Data analysis using statistical tests Paired sample T-test. The results of the study show that this guide is theoretically and practically feasible as well as effective in reducing the aggression of hostility of students. These findings contribute to the development of value-packed counseling interventions in the context of education as well as support the optimization of the role of guidance and counseling teachers in schools in dealing with student problems. These findings indicate that the values of stoicism combined with philosophical dispute in REB counseling can help students develop emotional control change irrational beliefs and form more adaptive responses. Guidance and counseling teachers are advised to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the principles and stages of REB counseling before implementing it so that the interventions carried out can run in a structured manner and according to the objectives. In the implementation process teachers need to use simple clear and contextual language so that it is easy for students to understand so that the counseling message can be conveyed effectively. In addition teachers need to deeply understand each value of stoicism used so that the disputes carried out not only focus on correcting irrational thoughts but also being able to instill virtue character in students. This character cultivation aims to form a thoughtful fair courageous and self-controlled mindset and behavior so that students can manage their emotions and have a strong moral foundation to interact positively in the school environment and daily life.
