The influence of psychoeducation on sexual education and socioeconomic status on parental awareness of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) / Agninda Rahmi Putri
Abstrak
Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a form of violence in which children are involved in activities intended to satisfy the perpetrator s sexual desires accompanied by psychological and physical pressure. Parents with high and low socioeconomic status still lack awareness and have several misconceptions about CSA. One way to increase parental awareness is to provide interventions to support CSA prevention. However interventions on CSA prevention for parents are rarely found as more research focuses directly on children. Therefore researchers are interested in determining the effect of psychoeducation on sexual education and socioeconomic status on parental awareness of CSA. This study aims to (1) analyze the effect of psychoeducation on sexual education on parents awareness of CSA (2) analyze the effect of socioeconomic status on parents awareness of CSA and (3) analyze the effect of the interaction between psychoeducation on sexual education and socioeconomic status on parents awareness of CSA. This study was conducted at SDN Oro-Oro Dowo Malang using an actual experimental research design. The research design used was a 2x2 factorial design. The population in this study consisted of all 102 parents of students in grades 4-6 and data collection was carried out using a total sample technique followed by random assignment. The data collection instruments used in this study were a scale measuring parental awareness of CSA and a treatment instrument namely a psychoeducation module on sex education. The scale measuring parental awareness of CSA consisted of 21 valid and reliable items. The results showed that (1) there was an effect of psychoeducation on sexual education on parents awareness of CSA (2) there was no effect of socioeconomic status on parents awareness of CSA and (3) there was no interaction effect between psychoeducation on sexual education and socioeconomic status on parents awareness of CSA. Recommendations for further research are (1) increasing the duration or number of psychoeducation sessions (2) collaborating with schools to develop programs that can be implemented in schools and (3) designing longitudinal studies to examine the long-term sustainability of psychoeducation effects.
