ABSTRACT Prawitasari Roro Riris. 2009. The Difference of Learn Product and Higher Order Thinking Skill of XIth Students of SMAN 10 Malang that was Studied by Learning Cycle 5 Phase Model and Conventional Method in Coloid. Thesis Chemistry FMIPA Malang State University. Adviser (1). Drs. I Wayan Dasna M.Si M.Ed Ph.D. Adviser (2). Drs. H. Parlan M.Si. Key Word learn product higher order thinking skill Learning Cycle 5 phase model coloid. Chemistry learning has an abstract character and gradually it makes students difficult to understand chemistry concept. So that it needs a correct model of teaching to increase student s understanding and learn product. Accomplishment of chemistry learning is also hope to use a constructivistic model of teaching which one of is Learning Cycle 5 phase model. By using Learning Cycle 5 phase model students are hope to increase understanding and develop higher order thinking skill. This plan of research is quasy experiment. Population of this research are three class of XIth science students of SMAN 10 Malang. Sample of this research are students of XIth science-2 as experiment class that has 36 students 23 girl students and 13 boy students and students of XIth science-3 as control class that has 36 students 25 girl students and 11 boy students. Experiment class use Learning Cycle 5 phase model and control class use conventional method. This research use instrumen such as syllabus RPP handout worksheet and post test. From the try out of learn product test was obtained 25 valid questions with reliability 0 794. The difference of learn product between experiment class and control class was analyzed by normality test homogenity test and hypotesis test with 0 05. Higher order thinking skill was analyzed by compare percentage of C4-C6 and C2-C3 question answers. Result of this research showed that (1) there was difference of student s learn product that was studied by Learning Cycle 5 phase and conventional method. It can be seen by completeness percentage of experiment class (92%) was higher than control class (81%). (2) there was difference of student s higher order thinking skill that was studied by Learning Cycle 5 phase and conventional method. It can be seen by skill to answer C4-C6 questions in experiment class (87%) was higher than control class (76%).
