Abstrak
The quality of science learning on the subject form of objects at the 4th grade students of SDN Bendomungal II Bangil is still low. Based on the learning outcomes of 16 only 44% (7 students) had learning mastery with an average score 63. This research was conducted with the aim to 1) Describing the application of discovery approach in the science learning on the subject identifying the form of solids liquids and gases have certain properties at the 4th grade students of SDN Bendomungal II Bangil 2) Describing the increase in student learning activities in science learning on the subject identifying the form of solids liquids and gases have certain properties at the 4th grade students of SDN Bendomungal II Bangil through discovery approach 3) Describing the learning outcomes in the science learning on the subject identifying the form of solids liquids and gases have certain properties at the 4th grade students of SDN Bendomungal II Bangil through discovery approach. The problem solving was done by classroom action research (CAR) collaboratively between researcher and collaborator by using discovery approach. The reseacher takes the 4th grade students of SDN Bendomungal II Bangil on the first semester that consists of 16 students as the subject of the research. In gathering the data the researcher does some ways to collect the data such as doing tests observation and documentation. The data were analyzed by descriptive percentages and descriptive qualitative. The results of this study were (1) Step-by-step implementation of the science learning on the subject the form of objects through discovery approach at the 4th grade students of SDN Bendomungal II Bangil in this study are as follows a) Formulate the problem b) Collecting the data c) Analyzing the data d) Presenting the data e) Communicating the data and f) Conclusions. (2) Level of student learning activities in the first cycle of the first meeting was 65.3% and in the first cycle of the second meeting increased to 73.3% or an increase of 8%. In the second cycle of the first meeting students learning activity increased again to 80% or an increase of 6.7%. In the second cycle of the second meeting students learning activity increased again 84% or an increase of 4%. (3) Student learning outcomes during the pre action who scored 8805 70 only 44% or 7 students with an average score of 63. In the first cycle of the first meeting the average score increased to 68.1 (up 5.1 points) with learning completeness 62.5% (an increase of 18.5%). In the first cycle of the second meeting the average score increased to 69.4 (up 1.3 points) with learning completeness 68.75% (up 6.25%). In the second cycle of the first meeting the average score increased to 72.5 (up 3.1 points) with learning completeness 75% (up 6.25%). In the second cycle of the second meeting the average value increased to 76.9 (up 4.4 points) with learning completeness 81.25% (an increase of 6.25%). The test results obtained in the second cycle of the second meeting in compliance with the indicators of research success so this research was discontinued in the second cycle of the second meeting. Researchers suggest that the discovery approach can be applied as a variation of learning in the classroom so that students do not feel bored in lessons and more active and creative. In the implementation of discovery approach undertaken in this study there are 3 students (18.75%) which has not been thoroughly studied individually therefore expected that other researchers conducting research through the same approach to improve the result even better.
