M.A. Key words reading questions analysis Bloom s taxonomy Reading comprehension is the primary emphasis in the teaching of English at senior high school Grade XI. The objectives of teaching english is to provide senior high school students with reading ability that will enable them to comprehend the information of English written texts mostly by responding to the reading questions. Hence the quality of reading questions are important. Therefore the writer wants to analyze whether the reading questions in the textbook have been constructed well. This study is intended to know the types of reading questions and the frequency of each type of reading questions in English e-book based on reading comprehension level in Bloom s Taxonomy. Thus this study was conducted to analyze the reading questions in the textbook Developing English Competencies for senior high school Grade XI. This study was conducted by describing the data with the design of descriptive qualitative. The criteria of Bloom s taxonomy was chosen for analyzing the data. The analysis were done after data collection. Each reading question in each textbook is analyzed based on the taxonomy in order to find out its type and the frequency of each type of reading questions. The results of the data analysis revealed that the reading questions in the textbook of Developing English Competencies covered five levels of reading comprehension based on Bloom s taxonomy namely knowledge comprehension application analysis and evaluation. The knowledge questions dominated in the reading questions of Developing English Competencies followed by application analysis and evaluation which are presented in a few questions. It is recommended that the English teachers of senior high school use more higher levels of questions in order to improve students comprehension. The textbook writers may take these findings into consideration for further revision of reading questions to develop higher levels of questions on the basis of the level of the students. It is also recommended to conduct further researches with different focuses and designs.
