Abstrak
Key Words Parenting Methods Economics Social Status Students Asertif Competence The faster the development of information and technology the more effects brought. They could be both good and bad effects. Teenagers are easily influenced by those effects particularly senior high students who are unstable. To avoid the bad effects come into the teenagers they must have an asertive behaviour. The asertive behaviour can be learnt and taught by their parents or a conselor. Based on those problems a research was held to know the tendency of parenting methods and social economics status toward the students asertive competence. The objective of this study was to identify the students asertive competence coming from families who apply democracy authoritative and permisive parenting and also the students asertive competence coming from high middle and poor economics level. The design of this study was descriptive quantitative. The subjects of this study were senior high students of Malang which were 170 students. The technique used in this study was cluster sampling. The instruments used to collect the data were parenting methods questionnaire asertive competence questionnaire and economics social status. Meanwhile the technique used to analyze the data was descriptive quantitative using percentage. The resulst of this study were the senior high students of Malang are inclined to have the asertive behaviour. The students who are both educated by using democracy authoritative and permisive parenting and come from high middle and poor economics level are able to behave asertively. Furthermore most of senior high students of Malang are educated by using democracy parenting. There are onlly few of them educated by using authoritative and permisive parenting. Most of the students also come from middle economics level. Based on the result of this study it is suggested (1) the conselor should do an approach and guide the students in order that they can behave asertively for those who still cannot do and for those who are able to behave asertively the conselor should motivate them to maintain it. (2) for the further researchers ths study can be a reference to hold the next research related to parenting methods social economics status and students asertive competence.
