The study used report text writing for the pretest and posttest as the instruments to collect the data on the students errors in writing. The findings of this study are as follows. First the direct corrective feedback is statistically proven to have significant effects in term of number of errors on the students writing. Second the indirect corrective feedback is also statistically proven to have significant effects in term of number of errors on the students writing. The last based on the Independent Sample t-test using SPSS 16.0 it is found that the direct corrective feedback has more significant effects in term of number of error on the students writing than the indirect corrective feedback. Corrective feedback gives significant effects on the students writing since it will be easier for the students to identify since they have already known the errors form the symbols or through correct forms given by the teacher. Yet the direct corrective feedback is more helpful than the indirect corrective feedback since the students can directly correct their errors different from the indirect corrective which still need the ability of self-correct. Some suggestions are offered in relation to the findings English teacher and further researchers. English teachers are expected to be able to choose the best method of giving feedback on the students writing. The two kinds of corrective feedback may serve as alternatives since it is proven that they have significant effects on the students writing. For the further researcher it is suggested that they do research in different contexts with different text types. It is also possible to do the research on the students preferences of what kind of feedback to be given to their writings.
