Abstrak
Key words Water Apolo Cognitive Ability Cognitive development is one of important aspects that should be developed since early ages through playing games in this case is making water apolo. The background of this study is that the students of group B TK Negeri Pembina 1 Kota Malang have low cognitive ability that can be seen through their lack of ability in naming colors. The activity of making Water Apolo is chosen as an approach in the learning and teaching process to develop students cognitive ability. The problems of this study are 1) how is the activity of making Water Apolo could improve cognitive ability of the students of group B TK Negeri Pembina 1 Kota Malang. 2) Is there a cognitive ability progress made by the students after doing making Apolo Water activity The design of this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) using two cycles. A cycle consists of two meetings and four steps plan act observe and reflect. The subjects of this study are the students of group B TK Negeri Pembina 1 Kota Malang. There are 24 students. The data are collected through observation documentation and appreciation of students performance showing their works. The data are analyzed using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The findings of the study show that the activity of making water apolo is that the students mix water of three basic colors red yellow and blue. Then the mixed color is poured into plastic that has 60 cm long that contains a smaller plastics containing air. It then becomes Water Apolo. Besides the finding of the study shows that the students of Group B TK Negeri Pembina 1 Kota Malang s cognitive ability improve through the activity of making Water Apolo. It is proved by the KKM or the Minimum Mastery Criteria of the class that reach 8805 75%. There are 13% (3 students) of students in pre-action research 63% of students (15 students) in the cycle 1 that reach KKM 8805 75%. With some weaknesses improved in the cycle 2 there are 75% of students (18 students) reach KKM 8805 75%. This proves that there is an improvement from cycle 1 to cycle 2 and that there are 6 students have not reach the KKM. The conclusion of this study is that there is an improvement of cognitive ability made by the students of Group B TK Negeri Pembina 1 Kota Malang. The suggestions are addressed to the teachers. The teachers should improve their teaching techniques so that the results will be better and able to improve the other students ability.
