Error analysis on \"Kanal International\" news in online entertainment media Kapanlagi.com / Riswinanti Pawestri Permatasari

Abstrak
Keywords Common Error KapanLagi.com international news Translation has an important role in many fields including mass media both printed and online media. In fact translation enables everyone to access information from any part of the world even though it is separated by different languages. Unfortunately because of some reasons many translation works do not qualified enough to be published as they do not report the true information stated by the source. This unfortunate case takes place in online media as well. Demanded by its highest factivity this media has been a role model in information. However this demand frequently leads to more errors in translation. Hence this study was conducted in order to find the common errors appear in international news of online media. KapanLagi.com was chosen as the site provides international news photos and articles. As this research aims to identify and describe any common error in degree of word phrase and sentence a descriptive-qualitative method is suitable for this research. The data were obtained through processes of reading both target and source versions comparing the errors listing the errors appeared and analyzing the errors. The errors will be classified into two categories kinds and forms of error. The former category is divided into syntax vocabulary and spelling / punctuation the latter omission addition deviation modification and inversion. The findings show that the most error occurred in vocabulary (74 28%) for kind of error and deviation (74 28%) for form of error. The great number of vocabulary error show the lack ability of the translator while the degree of deviation shows that the news presented in KapanLagi.com were mostly written based on the translator s misunderstanding. The misunderstanding then leads to the low factivity which means that they provide the less truth. Hence the media cannot be trusted.
