Dr. Suharmanto M.Pd (2) Dr. Gunadi Harry Sulistyo M.A. Keyword the Reciprocal Teaching Method reading comprehension effectiveness 12288 12288 12288 12288 This research is aimed at investigating the effectiveness of the Reciprocal Teaching Method in teaching reading comprehension and the interaction between the Reciprocal Teaching Method and students learning styles. 12288 12288 12288 12288 This research is quasi-factorial design with posttest-only design. The population in this research is 334 second semester students of English Education Study Program in the academic year of 2013 at STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro Lampung. The sample of this research is class D consisting of 43 students as the experimental group and class A consisting of 41 students as the control group. The students reading comprehension achievement is obtained from a reading comprehension test while students learning style is identified using learning style questionnaires. 12288 12288 12288 12288 The data analysis used in this research is non-parametric statistics Mann-Whitney and ANOVA. This is because one of statistical assumptions is not fulfilled normality assumption. In this research the purpose of employing ANOVA is to investigate the interaction between students reading achievement and learning styles. The result of Mann-Whitney test demonstrates that p-value is greater than the level of significance 945 0.05 (0.158 0.05) which means that Ho1 cannot be rejected. In other words there is no difference in reading comprehension achievement between students taught by using the Reciprocal Teaching Method and those taught by using the Discussion Method. The result of this research is in contrast with the result of other research which revealed the effectiveness of the Reciprocal Teaching Method. This is possibly caused by the slight visual difference in mean score the method implemented in the control group the dominant visual learners the number of meeting and guiding stage in the experimental group and the type of the reading comprehension test. Further the result of ANOVA test demonstrates that p-value is also greater than the level of significance 945 0.05 (0.246 0.05) which means that there is no interaction between the Reciprocal Teaching Method and the students with different learning styles.
