Keywords Code-switching Code-Switched Constituent (CSC) Extensive English Switches Code-switching (CS) mostly happens in the bilingual/multilingual countries including Indonesia. In Indonesia switching between Indonesian and English is a custom. It appears in several aspects of communication such as classroom trading and also songs. The switches in Indonesian pop songs have already existed in several years ago onwards. This study will focus on the form and function of code-switching in Indonesian pop songs. This study provides different perspectives to look at code-switching in Indonesian songs. Previous studies tend to employ types of CS and reasons of CS in examining the phenomena. This research however explores the form and function of code-switching in Indonesian pop songs. This study analyzed 30 songs using the descriptive-qualitative as the research design. In analyzing the form and function of code-switching this study applies Lee s (2004) framework. Lee (2004) categorized the CS form using Code-Switch Constituent (CSC) and CS function using the Extensive English Switching. The findings show that the CSC is categorized into 1) Single word or repeated use of single word switches (7 songs) and 2) Mixture of a single word and multiple word switches (23 songs). Moreover there are three sub-categories in the Extensive English Switching 1) Assertion of emotions 2) Assertion of struggle and 3) Assertion of innuendo. Assertion of emotions is the most frequently used (25 songs) and it can be categorized into some expressions they are love (60%) expectation (12.4%) disappointment (12.4%) jealousy (4%) and regret (4%). Then it is followed by the assertion of struggle (3 songs) and assertion of innuendo (2 songs). The result means that English switches in Indonesian pop songs are uniform in the way that they express love. Most of Indonesians use English switches in the form of mixture of a single word and multiple word switches. The employment of English switches in order to express love although in some songs they show disappointment or regret but the main topic of their songs is expressing love. It means that Indonesians are familiar with the expression of love towards somebody and have the same thought in the manner of expressing feelings using English.
