Developing materials for the eleventh grade students of Agronomy Program of SMK Negeri 1 Purwosari / Levi Suwartono

Abstrak
Key words Material development Supplementary material Agronomy Prakerin This study was conducted to develop a learning material for the Agronomy students in their second year (eleventh grade) in SMK Negeri 1 Purwosari in Pasuruan Regency. These students usually have an outside school activity called Prakerin (Praktek Kerja Industri). It is done for about 3-4 months in a semester. The execution of the activity depends on the schedule and the agreement between the school and the industry it can be done in the third semester or in the fourth semester it can be done in the first mid or last 3-4 months of a semester. The underlying result of the development was because of the fact that the students did not have a particular book to study during their Prakerin. The available books were BSE and LKS. Even though they were completed with many activities and exercises they were considered not suitable for the students due to the lack of the content area related to the students field of work in Agronomy department. This was also supported by the results of needs assessment done by the teacher and to the students. In the process of development a model from Borg and Gall (1989) was modified so that there were eight steps conducted needs analysis objectives identification materials development expert validation revision try-out revision and completion of the final product. After having been through necessary revisions based on the suggestions from the experts and the students as the users the product can be said as ready to be in actual use for the students. It was supported by the results of experts validation and try-out to the students which showed that the developed product was good in terms of its design and layout language topics and the content. It is also suitable for the students level and could be used by the students in their Prakerin time. Based on some limitations of the study the product needs further revision and development. In future development the needs analysis should not only be taken from the questionnaire but also from intensive interview to the students as well as the teachers. The review from the teachers are also needed as supportive considerations for the improvement of the product.
