In order to be able to read the information presented in English texts Indonesian students need to learn English. They need to read more to gain knowledge of vocabulary and become better readers. However the results of the preliminary study on the seventh graders of SMPN 3 Blitar show that the students were not interested in reading English passages and lack of vocabulary. This was due to the some factors namely the limited class time and the limited number and the uninteresting module. The results of the students need survey shows that most of the student want to read through internet. Therefore in order to arouse the students interest in reading English passage and to build students vocabulary knowledge the researcher developed a web-based extensive reading materials. 12288 12288 12288 12288 This study was conducted in the form of Research and Development (R D). The subject of the research was class VII B of SMP Negeri 3 Blitar. The product development procedures follow the model of Gall Borg and Gall s with some adaptations are made. It consists of seven stages (1) the research and information collection (2) the planning (3) the product development process (4) the expert validation (5) the product revision (6) the product try-outs and (7) the development of the final product. The research instruments were the validation questionnaire for the expert and the teacher and also the students try-out questionnaire. The product were revised based on the result of the product validation and the try-outs. 12288 12288 12288 12288 After the expert validation there were several revision regarding (1) the components of the website and (2) the materials. However no revisions were required after the teacher validation and the try-outs. The result of the data analysis indicate that the components of the products are valid and applicable. As a final point the product proved to be good enough to be used as extensive reading materials for seventh graders of junior high school. 12288 12288 12288 12288 Based on the research findings it is suggested that the teacher uses this product as supplementary especially in learning materials of reading activity focuses on vocabulary building. Future researchers are expected to develop different materials covering wider level with different topics with more varied activities.
