ABSTRACT Rahman Aliffian Fajar. 2017. The Implementation of Reading Activity on Hearing Impairment Student s in SLB Eka Mandiri Batu City. Undergraduate Thesis. Department of Special Education Faculty of Education University State of Malang. Advisors (1) Drs. Abdul Huda M.Pd. (2) Dr. Sulthoni M.Pd. Keywords Hearing Impairment Reading Activity Oral Hearing Impairment is a situation where a person experiencing communication disorders caused by damage to the sense of hearing. This situation affects their lives in a complex way especially to their communication process with others. In communicating with others hearing impairment student use sign language and oral language. However using oral language is not easy. To overcome this it is necessary to implement methods that can improve the oral ability of students with hearing impairment. The focus of this research are (1) the implementation of reading every morning at SLB Eka Mandiri Batu City. (2) Barriers to reading every morning. (3) Impact of reading activity every morning for hearing impairment students. This research uses qualitative method with case study research. Data collection is done by interview observation and documentation. After data is obtained then the data is analyzed by data reduction data presentation and conclusion. Then check the validity of the data using (1) triangulation (2) member checking (3) extension of observation time (4) increasing persistence and (5) sufficiency of reference material. The findings of this research include (1) the process of reading activity that begins from praying together students and teacher prepare reading books students read in their places students in turn reading in front of the class teacher justify reading and pronunciation students . (2) obstacles in the execution of reading activity every morning lies in the time used is too short the reading book used is less supportive and the low level of student intelligence. (3) the impact of reading activity for hearing impairment students can be seen from the use of oral language in communicating with others and in learning activities. Based on the above research findings the researcher give advice to the school to give enough time for reading activity every morning and it is better that the reading book used is more completed and adapted to the students ability.
