Key words Improvement program of professional competence of economic teachers based on Self-Regulated Learning economic teacher Several phenomena prove that ineffectiveness of the implementation of economic education in Indonesia i.e. (1) the lower human resource productivity (2) the lack of interest in economic investment (3) most of people make decision without considering principles of economic rationalities (tradeoff opportunitycost marginalism andincentive) (4) Emotional traps by producers and distributors agents to consume without considering the limits of ability level of intensity of the needs and the importance of managing the desire (5) the lower economic and financial literation on both students and teachers (6) lack of response to the practice of economic activities in surrounding areas emerging inequality injustice environmental degradation and other negative economic activity and (7) the higher number of economic crimes e.g. product counterfeiting and corruption. The ineffectiveness of economic education implementation in Indonesia lies in the lack of teachers professional competences. To overcome such problems it requires developing professional competence of economic teachers improvement program based on self-regulated learning. The generate product should be utilized and developed more by parties that aware to economic education namely (1) Directorate General of Secondary Education and Research Agency and Development of the Ministry of Education and Culture to formulate the development of economic education related to improvement program of economic teachers professional competence (2) Senior high school teacher to broaden their discourse related to their professional competence and (3) The students and economic education researchers are suggested to develop and add other competences pedagogic personality and social competencies. The present study and development aim at (1) Describing and analyzing professional competences of economic teachers (2) Describing and analyzing factors effecting on the professional competences of economic teachers and (3) developing professional competence of economic teachers improvement program based on self-regulated learning. The present study employs Borg and Gall research and development model. The stages of the present study including (1) preliminary study (2) planning (3) product development (4) product trial and (5) product revision. The data employed in the present study are both qualitative and quantitative data the qualitative data are obtained through critics input and opinion of the experts and economic teachers while the quantitative data are obtained through close-ended questionnaire score of experts validation economic teachers response questionnaire. The data are obtained through expert validation sheet expert validation and economic teachers response questionnaire. The result of the study indicates that professional competence of economic teachers improvement program based on self-regulated learning viewed from the whole determined aspects is worth to be implemented.The validation result of education technology expert as many as 70% economic education expert 94% and 61% economic teachers responses. The results of the effectiveness of the program and the significance of learning enrichment books for economic teachers based on self-regulated learning are derived from FGD results. According to FGD regarding to program effectiveness resulted as follows (1) Teachers get the opportunity to move forward according to their potential and (2) Make teachers aware of what they learnto improve their professional competences. Based on FGD on significance of learning enrichment books for economic teacher based on self-regulated learning indicates that the enrichment books will enrich learning experience of the students which later create rational altruistic and good behavior.
