Kata kunci kalimat efektif teks diskusi Kalimat yang digunakan ketika menulis harus beraturan dan sesuai dengan EYD yang berlaku. Hal yang harus diperhatikan ketika menulis adalah keefektifan kalimat. Kalimat yang efektif memiliki satu ide pokok yang mudah dipahami oleh pembaca dan tidak berbelit-belit. Kalimat efektif diperlukan dalam teks diskusi agar pesan yang disampaikan dapat dipahami pembaca dengan baik. Aspek yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini yaitu (1) kehematan (2) kelogisan (3) kegramatikalan dan (4) kesatuan gagasan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain penelitian deskriptif. Penelitian dilakukan di SMP Negeri 1 Trenggalek dengan subjek siswa kelas VIII H. Data penelitian ini berupa kalimat-kalimat yang terdapat pada teks diskusi karya siswa kelas VIII tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Instrumen analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu panduan kriteria kelayakan data dan panduan analisis data. Sementara itu pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik studi dokumen. Teknik studi dokumen dilakukan dengan cara mengumpulkan dokumen dari responden secara langsung. Oleh karena itu data yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini berupa hasil menulis teks diskusi siswa kelas VIII H SMP Negeri 1 Trenggalek yang terdapat dalam buku tugas siswa. Data yang telah diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis melalui proses reduksi data penyajian data analisis data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan kesimpulan dari keefektifan kalimat dalam teks diskusi karya siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Trenggalek. Kesimpulan tersebut disajikan sebagai berikut yaitu (1) 127 (65 5%) kalimat efektif dan 67 (34 5%) kalimat tidak efektif berdasarkan kehematan. Berdasarkan data tersebut kalimat tidak efektif berdasarkan kehematan banyak ditemukan penggunaan kata yang berlebihan dan penggunaan subjek ganda dalam kalimat tunggal (2) 141 (72 7% ) kalimat efektif dan 53 (27 3%) kalimat tidak efektif berdasarkan kelogisan. Berdasarkan data tersebut ketidakefektifan kalimat disebabkan oleh keruntutan unsur kalimat yang berbelit-belit sehingga menyebabkan fungsi kalimat tidak jelas dan kalimat menjadi tidak bernalar (3) 123 (72 7%) kalimat efektif dan 71 (27 3%) kalimat tidak efektif berdasarkan kegramatikalan. Berdasarkan data tersebut ketidakefektifan kalimat disebabkan oleh keruntutan unsur kalimat yang tidak tepat dan fungsi kalimat tidak beraturan (4) 136 (70 1%) kalimat efektif dan 58 (29 9%) kalimat tidak efektif berdasarkan kesatuan gagasan. Berdasarkan data tersebut ketidakefektifan kalimat disebabkan oleh fungsi dan unsur kalimat memiliki keruntutan yang tidak tepat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian keefektifan kalimat dalam teks diskusi karya siswa terdapat dua saran yang dapat dipertimbangkan. Pertama saran ditujukan kepada guru bidang studi bahasa Indonesia kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Trenggalek agar lebih sering melatih keterampilan siswa dalam menulis kalimat dengan menggunakan penalaran yang baik unsur-unsur kalimat tidak mubazir tepat dalam memilih kata dan unsur-unsur kalimat jelas kedudukannya. Kedua saran ditujukan kepada peneliti selanjutnya yang diharapkan dapat menjadikan penelitian ini sebagai acuan penelitian sejenis dengan aspek yang lebih lengkap dan analisis yang lebih mendalam pada setiap aspek. Keywords effective sentence text discussion Used when writing the sentence must be uniform and in accordance with applicable EYD. It should be considered when writing is the effectiveness of the sentence. Effective sentence has one main idea that is easily understood by the reader and not convoluted. Effective sentence is required in the text of the discussion so that the message can be understood by the reader either. Aspects examined in this study were (1) frugality (2) the logic (3) kegramatikalan and (4) the unity of the idea. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive research design. The study was conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Trenggalek with eighth grade students. This research data in the form of sentences contained in the discussion paper text eighth grade school year 2016/2017. Instrument data analysis used in this research that the eligibility criteria guide data and guide data analysis. Meanwhile the collection of data in this study using the technique of document study. Mechanical study of documents is done by collecting documents from respondents directly. Therefore the data obtained from this study is the result of the discussion text writing class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Trenggalek contained in the student assignment book. The data that has been obtained is analyzed by a data reduction process Based on the research found the conclusions of the effectiveness of the sentence in the text discussion of the work of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Trenggalek. Conclusions are presented as follows namely(1) 127 (65.5%) effective sentence and 67 (34.5%) sentences are not effective based on frugality. Based on these data the sentence was not effective based on frugality many found that excessive use of the word and the use of multiple subjects in a single sentence (2) 141 (72.7%) effective sentence and 53 (27.3%) ineffective sentence by the logic. Based on these data the ineffectiveness of the sentence due to demands element convoluted sentences causing the function is not clear sentences and sentences into no reason (3) 123 (72.7%) effective sentence and 71 (27.3%) ineffective sentence based gramatic sentece. Based on these data the ineffectiveness of the sentence due to keruntutan improper sentence elements and functions irregularly sentence (4) 136 (70.1%) effective sentence and 58 (29 9%) sentences are not effective based on the unity of the idea. Based on these data the ineffectiveness of the sentence due to the functions and elements of a sentence has demands improper. According to the research the effectiveness of sentences in the text of the discussion of student work there are two suggestions that can be considered. First the advice is addressed to teachers of Indonesian grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Trenggalek more often train students skills in writing sentences using good reasoning sentence elements are not redundant in choosing the right words and sentence elements clearly position. Second the advice addressed to the next researcherwho is expected to make this study as a reference for similar studies with aspects of a more complete and in-depth analysis on every aspect.
