Brochure alone is a thin book giving information or advertising something. It is in the form of a pamphlet or flyer that is used to distribute information about the hotels. In this case it is used to inform and advertise the service of some hotels in Malang including facilities rates terms and conditions direction and location and contact of the hotels. It holds an essential role as it gives information of the hotel service. Hence the texts of the brochures are supposed to be convincing and interesting to attract a lot of visitors. Unfortunately some parts of the English version of the brochures are poorly written and some terms are unacceptable. Related to that the researcher conducted this study to find out what kind of errors the writers of hotel brochures issued by hotels in Malang have made. This study was conducted using descriptive quantitative approach. The samples of the data were brochures issued by 10 starred hotels in Malang. In the data analysis the researcher classified the errors based on The Surface Strategy Taxonomy by Dulay et al. (1982). The findings of this study showed that there were 117 errors of misformation (44.49%) 103 errors of omission (39.16%) 23 errors of misordering (8.75%) and 20 errors of addition (7.60%). The researcher also provided corrections for the errors found.Such errors might occur due to the interference of the structure from Indoesian language as the source language of the hotel brochure writers known as interlanguage. The findings from this study are expected to give considerations to the hotel managers to provide persuasive convincing and interesting advertisements of the hotel through the brochures with appropriate use of English. For English practitioners the researcher suggests the findings of this study to be used as one of the sources that shows the errors occurred in the practical application of English. For English teachers especially whose students are majoring in hospitalization and marketing in Vocational High School the findings of this study is expected t be one of sources to develop teaching materials. For future researchers it is suggested to conduct other research with deeper and more detailed analysis. They are also suggested to conduct other studies of the same topic but with different object of study.
