In literature color works as a language a medium to create a vivid mood or situation as well as to signify the underlying messages. Technically the exploration of colors in literary works creates/recreates the meaning of colors in the mind of readers. Life of Pi a novel by Yann Martel is one of the novels which has colors as one of the significant milieus. According to the important role colors have in literature thus it is noteworthy to seek the significance of colors in the novel. In order to accomplish the aim of the study theoretical frameworks are set within the discussion of sign color imagery and color symbolism. Some previous studies regarding the novel of Life of Pi as well as previous studies on color symbolism in literary works are used as references to amplify the study. In the findings orange appears as a representation of a mother while green appears as a hint of a duality of the story. White comes up conveying the image of life and blue portrays the nature or in a broader view earthling space limit. These findings geared towards the understanding of colors play a big part in reinforcing the intrinsic elements of the novel. This study does not deal with ecocriticism post-colonialism color of skin and feminism issues. It merely concentrates on how colors are constructed with regard to scenery and atmosphere. Therefore future research on aforementioned issues would be interesting to follow.
