Abstrak
ABSTRACT Ramadhani Vivi Dwi. 2019. Analysis of Geometry Problem Solving Abilities based on Cognitive Style for 5 119905 8462 Graders at SDN Karangbesuki 2 Malang City. Primary Teacher Education Study Program Department of Primary School Education and Preschool Education Faculty of Education State University of Malang. Counselor (I) Drs. Goenawan Roebyanto S.Pd M.Pd. (II) Dra. Siti Umayaroh S.Pd M.Pd. Keyword Geometry problem solving Polya steps cognitive style field independent field dependent. Learn math can develop student s mindset in problem solving. Based on the results of preliminary research by interviews with the teacher and giving solving questions to 3 student samples. There were differences in the ability to solve problems based on Polya s steps. There are (1) understanding the problem (2) devising a plan (3) carrying out the plan and (4) looking back. The purpose of this study is to describe capabilities of geometry problem solving based on the cognitive style field independent and field dependent in 5 grade SDN Karangbesuki 2 Malang City. The research subjects consisted of 2 students with field independent cognitive styles and 2 students with field dependent cognitive styles. This study uses a qualitative research model whose data is taken from the GEFT problem solving tests interviews and documentation. GEFT score is used to classify students according to their cognitive style namely field independent if get score 15-18 field neutral if get score of 10-14 and field dependent if get score 0-9. The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman models. Based on the results of the study it is known that students who have a field independent cognitive style in this study are able to do geometric problem solving based on Polya s steps namely (1) able to find known and asked aspects (2) able to develop plans that are relevant to the questions (3) able to solve the problem correctly and (4) able to draw conclusions from the answer. Whereas students who have a field dependent cognitive style have difficulties namely (1) have not included complete information (2) are less able to prepare a settlement plan (3) the final results of the answers are incorrect (4) do not do a re-examination.
